In my work, I channel El Tiznao, a Carnival character from the Dominican East, covered in charcoal or oil and dressed in leaves, symbolizing resilience and a deep connection to the land. Growing up in the sugar cane city, surrounded by traditions like Gagá and the legacy of Cocolos, I’m inspired to blend this earthy, powerful spirit with vibrant visuals that reflect Afro-Caribbean roots and the strength of cultural identity.
